GROUP SURF LESSONS ITINERY…
What to expect from the Group Surfing Lessons
A warm welcome awaits you by your surf instructor, you’ll be sized up for your wetsuit before being handed your surfboard.
You’ll need your swimming costume, a towel and some shoes for the beach.
Once everyone is ready it’s a short walk to either of the beaches where your coach provides an overview of your lesson.
The aim of our group lesson is to pass on enough information for you to feel confident to surf in your own time.
You’ll learn beach, surf and board safety, before practising your prone surfing and catching waves on your stomach.
After some further tuition back on the sand, it’s time to test out your pop up skills and ride waves back to the shore looking the part.
Group surf lessons are perfect for a Newquay stag do or hen do!
WHAT WILL I LEARN ON A GROUP SURF LESSON?
We break our group surf lessons down into easy to digest sections – each section has a short beach session where the surf coach can easily describe and demonstrate the technique, as well as giving you the chance to practise & perfect your method on the sand, before hitting the waves.
In the first stage you’ll learn all important beach safety & how to manage your surfboard, and how to catch waves on your stomach (prone surfing like bodyboarding) and how to steer the board and stop. We do this from individual waist depth, back to the sand. This initial stage gives everyone a really fun and practical introduction into learning to surf, setting any nerves aside. Our group surf lessons are all about fun!
Once everyone has had a chance to hone their skills in the water catching waves, steering their surfboard and managing themselves safely in the surf, it’s back to the sand for the next stage of the surf lesson – How to stand up!
As with anything there is a method to the madness and proven techniques to help you get riding waves back to the shore looking the part!
Once again your surf coach will break the techniques down and help with corrections on the sand before heading back out to the waves.
Back in the water – it’s time to put the two sections together. Our small group surfing lessons allow the instructor to spend plenty of tie with each surfer in the lesson. The idea is to create a relaxed learning environment where you have space to practise on your own whilst under the watchful eye of a surf coach who can encourage and correct every few waves.
You’ll need your swimming costume, a towel and flip flops for the beach.
